This fast-moving book is based on the Beatitudes (eight blessings of Christ) found at the beginning of Jesus' famous Sermon on the Mount recorded in Matthew 5 to 7. In these blessings the Christian finds a guide to spiritual growth.

The author notes that the first beatitude is for those who have low spiritual vitality, who doubt God has much use for them at all. The last one is for people who would choose to die rather than dishonor Him. In between the whole spectrum of spirituality is addressed by the Insider, the Expert on spiritual matters, Jesus Himself.
